C.Matthew Peterson, M.D.
Matthew Peterson received his M.D. from the University of Utah in 1981. His residency training in obstetrics and gynecology was accomplished at Maricopa Medical Center in Phoenix, Arizona. He stayed on as a faculty member for two years and then completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the University of Miami in Florida. He joined the University of Utah in 1989 and presently serves as Chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Peterson is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. He and his wife have five children and two grandchildren. His family enjoys snow skiing, water skiing, and dirt bike riding.

Kirtly Parker Jones, M.D.
Kirtly Parker Jones received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado in Molecular, Cellular, and Developmental Biology. This early interest in the mysteries of early human development led her to medical school at the University of Colorado and a residency in obstetrics and gynecology and fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Parker Jones joined the University of Utah in 1983, working in the in-vitro fertilization program. She also teaches reproductive medicine to medical students and physicians. Her husband, Chris Jones, M.D., PhD, is the director of the University of Utah Sleep/Wake Center, and her son, Breck, is also involved in patient care. Her hobbies include reading and walking the Colorado Plateau with her Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever.

Harry H. Hatasaka, M.D.
Harry H. Hatasaka received his M.D. from the Medical College of Virginia in 1983. His residency in obstetrics and gynecology was received at Case Western Reserve in Cleveland, Ohio, where Dr. Hatasaka later became part of the faculty. He then completed a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility both at Case Western Reserve and Northwestern University in Chicago. Dr. Hatasaka joined the University of Utah in 1991 and is currently the Medical Director of the Utah Center for Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Hatasaka is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility.

Mark Gibson, M.D.
Mark Gibson serves as Division Chief of the Utah Center for Reproductive Medicine. He received his M.D. degree from Case Western Reserve University in 1972 and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the University of Minnesota. He then went on to complete a fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at the Brigham and Women’s Hospital at Harvard Medical School. Dr. Gibson has directed the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology at the University of Vermont and was Chair of Obstetrics and Gynecology for more than a decade at West Virginia University. He is board certified in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology. Dr. Gibson enjoys working and living in Utah because of the many opportunities for outdoor activity including hiking, skiing, and fishing. He has six children, four grandchildren, and two spoiled dogs.

Douglas T. Carrell, Ph.D.
Douglas T. Carrell received a Master of Science degree in cellular biology from Brigham Young University in 1989. He received his Ph.D. degree in reproductive physiology from the University of Utah in 1995. Dr. Carrell has worked in the area of human infertility for the past nineteen years at the University of Utah and its satellite laboratories. He is currently the Director of the Andrology and In-Vitro Fertilization Laboratories at the University of Utah and its satellites in Utah, Idaho, and Minnesota. He also directs the Andrology and In-Vitro Fertilization Laboratories at Abbott Northwestern Hospital in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Dr. Ahmad Hammoud
Dr. Hammoud was trained in medicine in Lebanon and completed his residency for Obstetrics and Gynecology at Wayne State University. He joined the staff of the Utah Center for Reproductive Medicine in July of 2005 as a fellow and has been involved in several outstanding research projects. He and his wife Sue, who is a Ph.D. candidate in Physiology, enjoy Salt Lake City’s friendly environment.

Gail Moore
Gail Moore joined the UCRM staff in 1994 after working for eighteen years as a labor and delivery nurse in California. Gail is the mother of four children and the grandmother of eleven. Two of her grandchildren were conceived through IVF.

Janine Bawden
Janine Bawden joined the UCRM staff in December 2000 after working for sixteen years as a labor and delivery nurse at the University Hospital. Janine moved to Utah from Chicago in 1980 to ski and ended up making Utah her home. She has two children, two dogs, and two cats.

Jennilee Brown
Jennilee Brown began her nursing career at the University of Utah as an LPN and became an RN in 1985. In 1996, she joined the UCRM staff. She and her husband enjoy their three daughters, one dog, and three cats. In her free time, Jennilee likes to crochet, knit, work in the yard, and read.

Denise Fournier
Denise Fournier joined the UCRM staff in August 2004 after working as an Ob-Gyn nurse for nineteen years. She received a degree in Biology from Cornell University in 1980, and then served as a Peace Corps volunteer from 1980-1981. She received her nursing degree in 1985. She moved to Utah in 1988 and worked on the maternity unit at LDS Hospital before joining the UCRM staff.

Jenifer Hood
Jenifer Hood joined the UCRM staff in January 2007 after working as a Labor and Delivery nurse for sixteen years. She received a B.S. in Nursing from Baylor University and has worked as a traveling nurse throughout the U.S. most recently residing in Hawaii. Jenifer and her husband, Scott, live in Sandy with their dog, Cooper. They are expecting their first child in June.
